DOTHAN, Ala. – Michael Roger Shaughnessy, 57, a resident of Dothan, Ala., formerly Bangor and Philadelphia, Pa., died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 8, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Shaughnessy was born May 10, 1948, in Bangor, to Richard Paul and Marjorie King Shaughnessy Sr. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne unit and was also a merchant marine. Mr. Shaughnessy was an officer for L & I Enforcement for 22 years before his retirement. Survivors include a daughter, Holly J. Shaughnessy of Philadelphia, Pa.; son, Michael Patrick Shaughnessy of Philadelphia, Pa.; one grandson, Michael Shaughnessy of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Claudia and Albert Underwood of Philadelphia, Pa. and Sandy Maude of Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers, Richard Paul and Kay Shaughnessy Jr. of Dothan, Ala., Gary Shaughnessy of Fort Deposit, Md. and Nicholas J. and Ava Fafalios of Rising Sun, Md.; special friends, Laura Barrale, Ken Carpenter and A.J.; his beloved dog, Dustin; several nieces and nephews. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
