MASARDIS – Michael W. MacDonald, 57, died unexpectedly at Mas-ardis, April 21, 2004. He was born May 9, 1946, in Masardis, the son of Douglas and Annie MacDonald. Michael graduated from Ashland High School and served three years in the U.S. Army in Germany. He was employed for many years by Nexfor Paper at the Levesque Plant in Masardis. Michael was a member and former fire chief of the Masardis Fire Dept. He was a member of the AMVETS in Masardis, and the American Legion in Caribou. Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by a daughter, Bo L. Knight of Lexington, Ky.; a brother, Carl and his wife, Dale, of Lincoln; two sisters, Delores Mayo and her husband, George, of Milo, Joyce MacDonald of Houston, Texas; stepmother, Stella MacDonald of Caribou; one stepsister, Sheila Buckingham and her husband, Leon, of Ashland; two stepbrothers, Sheldon and John Lyons of Masardis; a special grandson, Tyler MacDonald of Ashland; a special friend, Barbara Gonya and her granddaughter, Casey; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michael had asked all his family and friends to donate money to buy bricks for the new Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou. Donations may be made in his memory and sent to Delores Mayo, 4 D’este Road, Milo, ME 04463. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the VFW Hall, Rt.11, in Ashland. A luncheon will be served after the service. At a later date the interment will take place at Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
