CARIBOU – Mildred Westin, 94, wife of the late Everett Westin, went home to be with her Lord June 7, 2007. She was born March 21, 1913, in Caribou, one of seven children to Leon and Effie (Stewart) Barnes. She worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph Co., for several years, starting at the Caribou office, where she rose to the chief operator position. When the Caribou and Presque Isle offices merged, she became senior supervisor. She also worked for the State of Maine out of her home, printing tags for seed potato farmers and later printing tags in Fort Fairfield. Mildred was a longtime member of Caribou United Baptist Church, where she served her Lord and Savior in many ways. She was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, a mem-ber of the Bishops Philathea Class and Abbie Sanderson Mission Circle. She also served on the Board of the American Baptist Convention, representing the North Aroostook Association for many years. She is survived by two sons, Paul Westin and his wife, Joann, of Albion and Mark Westin of Caribou; a stepson, Jack Westin and his wife, Wilma, of Caribou; one sister, Louise Wyllie and her husband, Robert, of Warren; four grandchildren, Melody Twit-chell and her husband, Jonathan, of Cape Elizabeth, John Westin of Santa Fe, N.M., Kenneth Westin of Caribou and Pamela Westin of Caldwell, N.J.; several nieces and nephews. Mildred will be sadly mis-sed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Lewis and Ervin Barnes; and three sisters, Hazel Kelley, Mamie Berry and Gladys Syring. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, from the chapel of Mockler Funeral Home with the Rev. John Kiehn, pastor, officiating. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
