MILLINOCKET – Milton R. Chasse Sr., 74, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at his home, after a lingering illness. He was born in Millinocket, Jan. 7, 1930, the son of Joseph P. and Celia A. (Morrow) Chasse. Milton was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a life member of V.F.W. Post 4154. He was employed by Great Northern Paper Company for 43 years retiring as a rewinder operator in 1986. Milton was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Fin & Feather Club. He was also a member and past board member of the Nesowadnehunk Lake Retirees Association. He was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Millinocket. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ersul E. (Thompson) Chasse of Millinocket; his children, Milton R. Chasse Jr. and wife, Cheryl, of Millinocket, Melone J. and husband, Attila Vincze, of Arvada, Colo., Deena M. and husband, William Allen, of Ellsworth, and Janine L. and husband, Ted Leet, of Millinocket; six grandchildren, Tyson and wife, Marcie Chasse, of New Jersey, Byron and Brandon Chasse, both of Millinocket, and Dustin, Misty, and Corey Leet, all of Millinocket. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Chasse and a sister, Ramona Oakes. Milton will also be sadly missed by two special friends, Gerald “Popeye” Morrison and Peter Walsh. Graveside committal services with military honors will be held at Millinocket Cemetery at a later date.
