BRUNSWICK – Myron Warren Zimmerman, 89, a retired consulting engineer, died peacefully Aug. 2, 2008, at home. He was born July 18, 1919, in Monson, the son of the late Robert A. and Anna Moore Zimmerman. Myron Zimmerman was educated in Monson schools and was a graduate of Monson Academy and the University of Maine at Orono. He was a registered professional engineer in the states of Maine and Rhode Island. He was founder and president of Zimmerman Engineering, Inc., East Providence, R.I. Later he moved to Augusta, where he practiced as a consulting engineer with several state agencies, and later as a self-employed consultant. He served in the U.S. Army in the China-Burma-India theatres during World War II. Myron Zimmerman was a member of Monson United Church of Christ and the Orr’s and Bailey Island United Methodist Church. He was a life member of Abner Wade Masonic Lodge, Sangerville. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Day Zimmerman of Monson; his daughter, Susan of Woolwich; his son, Michael of Sag Harbor, N.Y.; his son, Peter and his wife, Anisa Mehdi, of Maplewood, N.J.; a grandson, Edward Watson of New York City; and two granddaughters, Janna Martha and Katherine Turner Zimmermann of Maplewood, N.J. He is also survived by one sister, Shirley Farquhar of Ludlow, Vt.; as well as many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Pierce Zimmerman of Guilford; his brother, Robert; and his sisters, Louise Brown, Alice Mitchell, Ruth Daisey, Anna Douglass, Mabel Marshall and Roberta Kallgren. A celebration of his life was held Aug. 9 at Whetstone Pond, Blanchard. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Myron Zimmerman loved the woods.
