HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. Nancy Cousins Richter, 74, of Carolina Village, Hendersonville, N.C., passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House. A native of Fort Kent, she had attended the University of Maine at Orono, where she met her husband, Robert, six weeks before he was due to graduate. They were married in 1951. She was a nurse in the field of nuclear medicine for more than 20 years, having worked in various locations in conjunction with her husband’s career travels. They lived in Clifton Park, N.Y., prior to moving to Hendersonville in 1988. As a member of the “Opportunettes,” a dancing group from the Opportunity House in Hendersonville, N.C., she loved to visit retirement homes in Henderson County and entertain the residents. She also danced competitively with the group in Raleigh, N.C., at the state level. She loved the Lord Jesus, and as a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hendersonville, N.C., looked forward to her eternal reward. Mrs. Richter is survived by her husband, Robert, with whom she would celebrate 53 years of marriage this July. She is also survived by two daughters and their husbands, Helen and Stephen Gammon of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Carol and Gary Pardun of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Carl, Graham, Grace, Amy and Jonathan. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at the Carolina Village Hall. The Rev. Dr. Stephen A. Gammon will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House, 511 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
