THOMASTON – Nathan E. Stevens, 23, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Bath, Jan. 1, 1983 as the first New Years’ baby, he was the youngest son of proud parents, James W. and Maureen P. Flynn Stevens. Nate was educated in Rockland schools and was a Rockland District High School Honor Graduate, Class of 2001. While in high school Nate was a member of the soccer team. In recent months, Nate was eagerly awaiting the birth of his son with his companion, Jossilyn Robbins; he was very excited about becoming a father. His nurturing personality was obvious to everyone, as he loved to spend time with Jossilyn and her daughter, Sahmara, both of whom had become the center of his life. A passion in Nate’s life was art. His family remembers him as an accomplished artist who enjoyed dabbling in a variety of mediums. He was proud to have assisted in the establishment of “Julia’s Gallery,” an art program for young people of the Farnsworth Art Museum. Nate was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his friends and family. His father said Nate was happiest when he was hunting. He also loved his dog, Murphy, and his rabbit, Cotton. Although Nate had times of struggle in his life, he found strength from his family. One source of that strength was his maternal grandfather, Edward “Bill” Flynn Sr. He also had the constant support of his sister and his brothers. Nate will be remembered as a loyal friend to many and will be very much missed by his family. Nathan was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Edward W. “Bill” Flynn Sr. He is survived by his parents, James and Maureen Stevens of Thomaston; his brothers, Brooks Stevens and his wife, Lynda, of Gloucester, Mass. and Ian Stevens of Thomaston; his sister, Erin Frisone and her husband, Mike, of Rockland; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Marion Stevens of West Rockport; maternal grandmother, Mary Jane Flynn of South Portland; his companion, Jossilyn Robbins, and her daughter, Sahmara, both of Waldoboro; his companion’s parents and grandparents; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Family and friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 24, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland, the Rev. Mark Reinhardt will officiate. Interment will be held after the service at Coughlin Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Nathan for the benefit of his children, care of James and Maureen Stevens, 226 West Meadow Rd., Thomaston, ME 04861.
