He was a member of the Island Falls Masonic Lodge No. 206 for more than 50 years, enjoyed hunting and fishing, became a maker of fly rods and tied flies in his retirement years. He was an avid gardener his whole life and loved being at the cottage on the pond most of all. He was predeceased by his wife, Captola (Milton) Parker, in 1990.
