SEAL HARBOR – Nelda E. (Soper) Blaisdell, 91, died Feb. 29, 2008, at a Bar Harbor hospital. She was born Nov. 8, 1916, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of George Henry and Mildred G. (Holbrook) Soper Sr. Nelda graduated from Bar Harbor High School. She was a member of St. Mary’s and St. Jude’s Episcopal Church and was secretary of St. Jude’s Guild for several years. Nelda married Herman L. Blaisdell Jr. in 1936. He predeceased her in 1998, after 62 years of marriage. She is survived by a daughter, Paula Knudsen and husband, Walter H. Jr., of Seal Harbor; a son, Richard L. Blais-dell and wife, Susan, of Bar Harbor; grandchildren, Pamela Bell, Jennifer Knudsen, Curtis Knudsen and Jeremy Blaisdell; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Jordan, Brynn and Curtis Jr.; one great-great-grandson, Blake; and three stepgrandsons, Joey, Kevin and Stephen Litinski. Nelda was predeceased by one brother, George Henry Soper Jr.; and one grandson, Walter H. Knudsen III. At Nelda’s request, funeral services will be held in the spring at Seal Harbor Cemetery.
