MILBRIDGE – Nellie (Clark) Davis passed away, at the age of 90, Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. She was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Machias, he daughter of Nelson and Lena (Farnsworth) Clark. Nellie was a resident of West Manor Apartments, Milbridge. Nellie was a homemaker, a dedicated mother to her three children. She was a beloved member of her community and church. She enjoyed shopping, reading, cross-stitch, doing puzzles, attending church, visiting with friends and family, having her hair done and organizing photo albums of her family. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, aunt, sister, cousin and loving friend to so many and will be deeply missed. Her smile and her undying spirit will never be forgotten. Nellie was both kind and generous, caring and compassionate. Anyone who met her loved her and never forgot her sweet nature. Nellie dedicated her life to serving the Lord and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church, Cherryfield, for many years. Pastor Mark Chandler and his wife, Melanie Chandler, gave lovingly and generously of their time in Nellie’s final days and were an especially important part of her life, as was all of her extended family at the church. Nellie enjoyed living at West Manor and she made many friends and acquaintances there. Of those friends, her neighbor, Carmen Dorr, was her guardian angel. Carmen always looked out for Nellie and made sure all was well. Nellie is survived by three children, Mary Jo Hammond and her companion, Dana Hyde, Frederick Davis Jr. and his wife, Amy, and Susan Moore and her husband, Johnny. Nellie will be missed by her grandchildren, Parris Hammond Jr. and his wife, Rhonda, Marcia Worcester and her husband, Darryl, Tricia Brown and her husband, Stephen, John Davis, Natalie Bunting and her husband, Michael, Andrew Davis, Samantha Moore and her companion, Derek Giasson, and Ingrid Ward and her husband, David Sr. Nellie’s great-grand-children were, Jessica Hammond, Betsey Brown, Reese Brown, Ashley Davis, David Ward Jr., Lillian Ward; and Derek’s son, Cameron Giasson. Nellie is also survived by a brother, Thatcher Clark. She was predeceased by her siblings, Myra Hooper, Samuel Clark, Euna Hanscom, Mary Drew, Herbert Clark and Maynard Clark. There will be a service to remember Nellie 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at Cherryfield United Pentecostal Church, with a reception to be held after in the church vestry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cherryfield United Pentecostal Church, care of Gwen Farren, 8 Unionville Road, Cherryfield, ME 04622.
