STEUBEN – Nixola M. “Nixie” West, 82, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born May 7, 1922, in Steuben, the daughter of James E. and Ida M. (Young) Colson. Nixie was a member of the Steuben Union Church for more than 60 years. She is survived by four sons, James West and his wife, Deanna, of Cherryfield, Paul West and his wife, Pauline, Carroll West and his wife, Eleanor, and David West and his wife, Lynne, all of Steuben; one brother, William Colson and his wife, Lillian, of Steuben; eight grandchildren, Tim, Tom, Vaughn, and Shelby West, Ava Brown, Lawrence West, all of Steuben, Jason West of Milbridge, and David A. West of Calais; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nixie was predeceased by a granddaughter, Ida M. West; a sister, Beatrice Colson; and a brother, Guy Colson. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge.
