HOULTON – Noreen E. Pasanen, 81, passed away peacefully Jan. 30, 2008, at a local hospital. She was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Truro, Nova Scotia, the daughter of Harry and Thelma (Black) MacEachron. Noreen was a member of Unitarian Church of Houlton and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed many pursuits including bridge, her reading club and piano. Noreen was an avid reader and lifelong learner. She was particularly dedicated to her family. Noreen is survived by her children, Norman P. Swales and his wife, Carolee, of Fort Myers, Fla., Brian E. Swales of Houlton and William B. Swales and his wife, Joann, of Bangor; two grandsons, John P. Swales of Boca Raton, Fla., and James P. Swales of Bangor; a granddaughter, Holly Swales of Tampa, Fla.; a great-grandson, Sean Swales of Boca Raton, Fla.; many loving members of the Pasanen family. She was predeceased by her husband, Palmer Swales; her second husband, Otto Pasanen; and her son, James E. Swales. In keeping with Noreen’s wishes, there will not be a worship service or visiting hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service and interment 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Evergreen Cemetery. Those who wish may make gifts in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
