CALAIS – Norman Leroy Gibson, 76, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Calais Regional Hospital. Norm was born May 3, 1928, in Calais, son of the late Herbert and Phyllis (Rafferty) Gibson. He worked for the Calais Water Department, where he retired as a supervisor. Norm served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Sherman Bros. Post No. 3 American Legion of Calais. He was predeceased by his wife, Ilene (McEachern) Gibson; a sister, Betty McMorran; and a brother, Shirley Gibson. Surviving are his daughter, Phyllis Ann Marshall and her husband, Edwin, of Calais; two grandchildren, Norman R. Mallory of Augusta, and Bethany Benner and her husband, Dan, of Old Town; sisters-in-law, Isabelle Gibson of Calais, Joanne Faloon of St. Stephen, N.B., Shirley Andrews, Edna Ralph; and a brother-in-law, Greg McEachern, all of Niagara Falls, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews. Norm will also be sadly missed by his many close friends. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Ronald Chaffee officiating. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery.
