FORT KENT – Norman Sylvain, 78, died peacefully Sept. 29, 2007, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born June 8, 1929, in Daigle, the son of Denis and Alvine (Morneault) Sylvain. Norman worked evenings for Page Starch Factory for 25 years and days potato farming his land for 15 years. Some of his favorite pastimes were woodworking, spending time with his family and enjoying the companionship of his dog, Bo-Bo. He will be remembered for his generosity. He was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly No. 0352 and the 152nd Field Artillery Maine National Guard, Fort Kent. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Gilma (Voisine) Sylvain of Fort Kent; eight children, Denis and his wife, Liz Sylvain, Phil Sylvain and Diana Sylvain, all of Fort Kent, Roger and his wife, Annette Sylvain, of Jacksonville, N.C., Norma Kennedy of Fort Kent, Patricia and Jeff Gregoire of Augusta, Lisa and Troy Shaw, and Michael and Sandy Sylvain, all of Presque Isle; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Leonard and his wife, Joan Sylvain, of Fort Kent; Sister Jeanne Chasse of Frenchville, Yvette Charette of Massachusetts, Joel and his wife, Hilda Sylvain, of Connecticut; brother-in-law, Lionel and his wife, Mary Voisine, of Connecticut; sister-in-law, Mildred Walker and her friend, Jesse Baker, of Old Town; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to both parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Mary Helen Sylvain Cyr in 2002; two sons-in-law, Tom Kennedy in 1994 and Jim Cyr in 2003; brothers, Edwin and Aurelle; and sisters, Irene, Ann, Theresa, Helen and Sister Annette Sylvain. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with full military honors and fourth degree honors will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services will be after at the parish cemetery. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edgar J.
