OLAN E. BURTON DEXTER – Olan E. Burton, 86, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 16, 2004. He was born in Corinna. June 5, 1918, the son of Darrol and Georgia (Thurston) Burton. He lived all his life in Dexter, where he worked as a dairy farmer for many years and worked for Great Northern Paper Co. He loved to hunt, fish, trap, and built canoes as a hobby. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy as a parachute rigger 3rd class. He was a member of the American Legion and attended the Pleasant Street Christian Church in Corinna. He was predeceased by a brother, Vernon Burton; and a sister, Gertrude Fields. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Georgena (McLean) Burton; three sons and their wives, Keith and Cindy Burton of Medway, Larry and Glenna Burton of Corinna, and Gary and Margaret of Dexter; a daughter and her husband, Carol and Vince Centenne of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Doug Burton, of Corinna and Leslie Burton, of Lewiston; 3 sisters, Winifred Mitchell and her husband, Malcolm, of E. Corinth, Darrolyn Weston and her husband, Herman, of China, and Gail Malone of Wellington; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Ed Jaworski officiating. Burial will be in the Corinna Center Cemetery.
