OAK HILL, Fla., and HAMPDEN – Olive died unexpectedly Sept. 7, 2007, in Florida. She was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Dixmont, the daughter of Neal and Lillian Rowell. Olive was always a giver without asking for anything in return. Not only her family, but also many younger people that grew up around the Fogg house knew her as mother. Her and her husband, Roland “father” traveled between Florida and Maine for many years. While in Maine, she would craft many different articles, which she would give to anyone that wished one. She spent many hours quilting small quilts for Project Linus. Between Florida and Maine, she donated in excess of 100 quilts. At times, she would reminisce about her experiences while graduating from Hampden Academy. Shortly after graduation, she met her husband, Roland, and they were married for 63 years until his death. Her husband, Roland; sister Florence Mclellan; brother, Harold Rowell; and brother-in-law, Sherm Fogg, predeceased her. A brother, Beecher Rowell of Levant, along with three sons, Merton of Oak Hill, Fla., Roland and Lillian of Hampden and David and Vanessa of Markle, Ind., survive Olive. She had five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Sherri Lynn Stimpel, granddaughter, had been staying with Olive while she recovered from a previous illness. All that knew her will miss her. Services will be announced at a later time as both Olive and Roland will be committed together at Chapman Cemetery, Newburgh.
