PALMYRE ‘PAM’ NADEAU CHARRON OGDENSBURG, N.Y. – Palmyre “Pam” Nadeau Charron, 90, of Baldwinsville, N.Y., formerly of Fort Kent, and Ogdensburg, N.Y., died Friday evening, May 14, 2004, at Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville, N.Y. She was born June 22, 1913, in Fort Kent, daughter of Alfred and Alexina (Dub?) Nadeau, Mrs. Charron attended Madawaska Training School. She was a practical nurse for Drs. Toussaint and Savage in Fort Kent and a visiting public health nurse and U.S. Department of Health nurse for Aroostook County. She was the first president of the Professional Business Women’s Club, Fort Kent, and an original member of the Fort Kent Hospital Auxiliary. After moving to Ogdensburg, N.Y., in 1953, she taught private art lessons at her home and adult education art classes in Ogdensburg schools. She was commissioned by Frederick Remington Art Museum to paint a portrait of Mr. Remington, and painted two murals that are part of the entrance of the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority Headquarters on the U.S./Canadian border. In earlier years, she enjoyed fly-fishing and canoeing and won the Maine State fly-casting championship three consecutive years. She enjoyed gardening and was a past president of the Ogdensburg Garden Club, a master bridge player and a member of the Ogdensburg Duplicate Bridge Club. She married Edward F. Charron on Feb. 19, 1943, at Fort Kent. Mr. Charron, managed J.J. Newberry Co. department stores for more than 40 years and died October 24, 1999. Surviving are three sons and their wives, Robert and Miyo of Syracuse, N.Y., E. William and Anne of Manlius, N.Y., and Peter A. and Catrine of Sebastopol, Calif.; two sisters, Bernice Laveway of Presque Isle, and Theresa Daigle of Alexandria, Minn.; a brother, Alton Nadeau of Bucksport; two grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six brothers, Alyre, Herman, Docite “Dyke,” twins, Frederick and Meldric, and John; and three sisters, Marie-Ann Nadeau, Lorri Ann “Kit” Ricard, and Geneva “Gin” Pelletier. Prayer services were held on May 19 at Fox-McLellan Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral and burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ogdensburg, N.Y.
