WEST CHAPMAN – Wilson A. Pendexter, 91, died Dec. 20, 2003, at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. He was born Sept. 5, 1912, in West Chapman, the son of George and Sarah (Briggs) Pendexter. Wilson farmed, worked for International Harvester as a mechanic and trucker, and in later years worked for Smythes I.G.A. He was a member of the West Chapman Advent Christian Church, and also pastored for many years. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Fort Fairfield; a son, C. Calvin and his wife, Joyce, of Charlevoix, Mich.; four daughters, Eula Calvert and her husband, Carl, of Winchester, Ky., Shelia McLaughlin of Presque Isle, Debra Shirley and her husband, Charles, of Rockport, Texas, Patricia Smith and her husband, Brian, of Lubbock, Texas; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two step-sons, James B. Witham of Caribou, Daniel P. Witham of Fort Fairfield; three step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Wilson was predeceased by his first wife, Ruby Katherine, in 1980; and seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at the West Chapman Christian Advent Church, with the Rev. Kevin Kierstead officiating. Friends may call 12 p.m. until time of service. A spring interment will take place at Southside Cemetery in Mapleton.
