Chief Hospital Corpsman, U.S.N.
CALIFORNIA and BAILEYVILLE Paul David Fitzsimmons, 40, died as a result of an auto accident on Feb. 15, 2004, in California. He was born Feb. 12, 1964, at St. John N.B., Canada the son of George and Patricia (Hayes) Fitzsimmons. Paul was a graduate of Woodland High School Class of 1982, and served in the U.S. Navy for 18 years. He joined the Navel Reserves in 1983, and entered into active duty in 1991. Serving both in Project Desert Storm and Operation Iraqui Freedom. He held the rank of Chief Hospital Corpsman and received numerous decorations and awards. Surviving are his parents of Baileyville; one daughter, Heidi Fitzsimmons of California; one brother, Jeffrey Fitzsimmons and his wife, Debbie, of Texas; three sisters, Frances Engroff of Baileyville, Patti Metta and her husband, George, of Baileyville, and Laura Butler and her husband, Fred, of Casco; 10 nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Ella Arseneau. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at St. James The Greater R.C. Church in Baileyville, by Father Frank Morin. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. At the request of the family, gifts in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or MADD, P.O.
