ISLESBORO – Paul Lamont Robinson, 85, passed away peacefully Jan. 20, 2007, at home. Paul was born March 16, 1921, in Garland, to Gladys Pennington Robinson and John L. Robinson. Paul was a graduate of Garland High School, attended MIT University, returning to Maine to train at Faye Scott Machine Shop where he earned his master machinist license. Paul entered the U.S. Navy as a SeaBea where he spent time in the Solomon Islands during World War II. Paul married Charlotte McCorison in May 1945 and raised two children, Peter Paul Robinson and Linda L. Robinson Achorn. Paul was an active 50-year member of Island Lodge No. 89 and of the Second Baptist Church, Islesboro. Paul was predeceased by his son, Peter. Paul is survived by his wife, Charlotte Robinson; daughter, Linda Achorn and husband, Robert; daughter-in-law, Renee Robinson and special friend, Nancy Pendleton; brothers, Earle and wife, Elenor, and John; sisters, Nathalie and husband, Richard, and Marion and husband, Harold; baby sister, Margaret and husband, Robert; sister-in-law, Barbara Elward; several nieces and nephews. Alice and Edwin Stevens, Kim Achorn, Mari Morgan and Ben Rollins all called him “Grampie.” Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the Second Baptist Church, Islesboro, with a Masonic service. Burial will be held after at Maple Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
