SEAL HARBOR – Paul Merrill Walton, 77, died Sept. 8, 2005, at his home. He was born June 19, 1928, in Seal Harbor, the son of William E. and Phyllis M. (Carter) Walton. He loved to hunt and fish and really enjoyed camping. He was a professional gardener at the Ford Estate, where he was employed for more than 30 years. Paul was always around to repair or lend a hand to people in the community. He always attended the sunrise service in Seal Harbor. He was a member of the Seal Harbor Volunteer Fire Department and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Paul was a past member of the civil air patrol and spotted submarines during the War. He is survived by a special friend, Gertrude Walton; four daughters, Patricia Lavoie and husband, Robert, all of Seal Harbor, Pauline Moran, of Islesford, Jean Goodwin and husband, Warren, of Southwest Harbor and Prudence Spencer, of Exeter; two brothers, Harold Walton and wife, Lucille, of Ellsworth, and George Walton and wife, Jeanette, of Sullivan; a sister, Ida Blanchard and husband, Sam, of Seal Harbor; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Paul was predeceased by his parents, wife, Grace (Pierce) Walton; and a son, John Walton. Friends are invited to call 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, with the Rev. Victor Stanley presiding. Interment will be at Seal Harbor Cemetery, Seal Harbor. Those who desire may make contributions in Paul’s memory to the Northeast Harbor Ambulance Service, P.O.
