LAKE SUZY, Fla. – Paula Irene King, 67, of Lake Suzy, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2005, at her residence. She was born Nov. 29, 1937, in Bath, to Edwin and Edna (Bickford) Welch. She had been a resident of Florida for 12 years, coming from Merrick, N.Y. Mrs. King was a nutritionist for the State of Florida, DeSoto County Department of Health W.I.C. in Arcadia. She retired in March. Educated at C.W. Post College in New York, she received her doctorate degree in education with a specialty in nutrition. She loved helping to educate and share her knowledge to help young mothers do the best for their children. She was predeceased by her husband, James K. King in 2000. Survivors include her son, Christopher (Raquel) King of Lake Suzy, Fla.; two daughters, Michelle Applestein and Lynne Manning, both of Rockland; one brother, Steven Clark of Freeport; three cousins, Barbara Randlett of Englewood, Fla. and Belfast, Edda Bailey of Topsom, Ann Gaddis of Machias; and five grandchildren. All services will be private.
