ORONO – Pauline Mae Miller Cumming, 76, passed on Oct. 29, 2003, in Orono. She was born in Lubec on Aug 8, 1927. She will be missed by her surviving sons, James Roland Cumming, Jeffrey Lee Cumming, and Scott Joseph Cumming, all of Texas. Polly worked in Massachusetts, New York, Texas, and Florida in the hotel, department store, and fine restaurant businesses, usually as a hostess and in other mid-management roles. She was married to her first husband, James Everett Cumming, for 17 years in Lexington, Mass., and Stony Brook, N.Y. Pauline later lived in Colorado and California with her second husband, Jim Hamilton. She had impeccable manners and had a very active and youthful temperament. She had many friends from her childhood in Lubec and other special relationships with friends in Florida and elsewhere. She was always very loving and thoughtful. A private memorial and family gathering was held at the graves of her mother, Gladys Mitchell Adams and her father, Roland W. Miller in Lubec City Cemetery, and on the beach at West Quoddy Lighthouse and also at Indian Lake.
