PEARL H. WILSON JACKMAN – Pearl H. Wilson, born June 11, 1906, at Heald Pond Camps, Moose River Maine, died peacefully in her sleep at Jackman Regional Health Center on May 28, 2004. Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of Henry J. and Bernice Orr Hughey. She lived in Jackman during her childhood with her parents and seven brothers and sisters. She graduated from Jackman High School in 1925. Pearl loved the outdoors and woods. She loved to walk in the forest having lived in remote areas near Jackman while growing up where her parents operated sporting camps. Her quiet unassuming manner belied her adventuresome nature. She was active, enthusiastic about traveling and loved new experiences. On June 4, 1931, Pearl married Howard A. Wilson also of Jackman and they continued to live there and in Holeb, Maine, where their two sons, Allen and James, were born. In 1952 Howard went to work in Freeport. Howard died in 1983, but Pearl continued to live in Freeport until coming to Jackman Regional Health Center in 2000. Pearl worked for E.E. Taylor Shoe Factory in Freeport for 16 years, then worked for L.L. Bean for five years. She retired in 1974. Mrs. Wilson belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary No. 83 in Freeport and served as president of that organization at least two times. She was a life member of Oak Leaf Senior Citizen’s Club in Freeport and the Jackman Nazarene Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard and son, Allen (1990). She is survived by her son, James and his wife, Dot, of Juneau, Alaska; Allen’s wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Stephen and Gary Wilson of Brunswick, Patrick Wilson and his wife, Lynn, of Jackman, Michelle Creelman and her husband, Matthew, of Yorktown, Va. and Michael Wilson of Tucson, Ariz. and her only surviving sibling is Mrs. Doris Chase of Brownville. Mrs. Wilson was very proud of her five great-grandchildren, Caitlin Pearl and Richard James Wilson, of Tucson, Ariz., Aaron Andrew Wilson of Jackman and James Knox and Andrew Wilson Creelman, of Yorktown, Va. Services will be at the Moose River Congregational Church, 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004, with the Rev. Bill Miles officiating. There will be an American Legion Auxiliary Service at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. Interment will be at Burr Cemetery, Freeport. Arrangements are by Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jackman Regional Health Center, Jackman, ME 04945.
