CALAIS – Perley Charles Tucker Sr., 85, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, with his family by his side at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 18, 1922, in Dyer Brook, the son of the late Charles and Myrtle (Shields) Tucker. Perley served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in Germany. He worked more than 25 years at S. D. Warren, West-brook and more than 25 years at Georgia Pacific, Baileyville. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, country music, being with friends and family, fishing, hunting, motorcycle riding, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, decorating his home outside for holidays and will be remembered for his beautiful flower gardens. Perley spent many hours doing these things with four of his great-grand-children, Zacch Gidney, Nick and Kin LeBlanc and Gage Wells. He enjoyed life to the fullest and had many friends. Perley will be missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Helena (Thornton) Tucker; a son, Thomas E. Tucker of Thorndike; a grandson, Gregory Willette of Calais; a great-grandson, James Willette of Lancaster, N.H.; a stepdaughter, Judy (Rogers) Little of Cooper; five brothers, Frank Tucker of Thorndike, George Tucker of Windham, Robert Tucker of Dyer Brook, Ralph Keezer of Florida and John “Jackie” Farwell of Connecticut; and a sister, Francis Miller of Canaan. He is survived by his children, Perley “Chuck” Tucker and wife, Sandra, of Thorndike, Dawn Thomas and husband, Henri, of Baileyville, Susan Spencer of Skowhegan, Sandra Casey of Calais and her friend, Raymond Heffler, of Robbinston and Darlene Easler and friend, Benton Resh, of Pennsylvania; stepchildren, Allen Rogers and wife, Pam, of Levant, Geneva (Rogers) May and her husband, Walter, of Hampton; stepson-in-law, Terry Little of Cooper; a brother, Harold Tucker; sisters, Florance Mains and husband, Ernest, and Mary Spiller, all of Westbrook and Anna (Bea) Constable of Unity; a dear friend, who was like a son, Luke Diabo of Massachusetts; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Friends may call noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. the same day. Burial will be held after at Calais Cemetery.
