WASHBURN – Perley H. Maynard, 79, died April 10, 2007, at Maine Veterans’ Home, Caribou. He was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Castle Hill, the son of Leon and Vinnie (Alley) Maynard. He was a member of the Lidstone Memorial United Methodist Church, Washburn. Perley was employed for many years in the maintenance department at both Taterstate and McCains in Washburn. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a past member of the Washburn Search and Rescue, Washburn American Legion and the Washburn Beavers ATV Club. Perley enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially, hunting, fishing, camping and fiddleheading. Surviving him is his wife, Charlene (Corey) Maynard of Washburn; a son, Darrall P. Maynard of Washburn; daughters, Bonnie Lavway and her husband, Dale, of Washburn, Deanna Gilbert and her husband, John, of Caribou, Jacalyn Riberdy, Deborah Zoller and Barbara Bird, all of Washburn, Sally Carde and her husband, Dick, of Caribou and Robyn Keener and her husband, Steve, of Monroe, Ga.; sisters, Marjorie Howe and Clara Porter and her husband, Ralph, all of Washburn; 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at Crouseville Cemetery later in the spring.
