BANGOR – Philip A. Johnson, 88, husband of the late Beatrice (Gat-chel) Johnson, died Feb. 2, 2007, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Apr. 11, 1918, in Brewer, the son of Fred and Eva (Staples) Johnson. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. Phil worked for Wilson & Co. and then, W.A. Bean until he was 82 years old. He was known for all the flowers he maintained at his Bangor home on Kenduskeag Avenue and for his decorations at Christmas time. He is survived by two sons, Richard Johnson and his wife, Karen, of Buxton and Robert Johnson of Jewett City, Conn.; four grandchildren, Lisa, Stacie, Heather and Robbie; six great-grandchildren, Katie, Allison, Anna, Caleb, Joshua and Evan. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Finson Road, Bangor, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, pastor of the Bangor Advent Christian Church, officiating.
