PRESQUE ISLE – Philip H. Sutter, 91, died Jan. 13, 2005, at a local nursing home. He was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Presque Isle, son of Leon and Edith (Hamilton) Sutter. Philip graduated from Presque Isle High School. Raised on a third generation farm in Presque Isle, Philip continued potato and dairy farming with family members for 50 years. He was an early cooperator with the Central Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District and was active in the Maysville Grange. Philip is survived by his sister, Mrs. Everett (Mildred) Osborn; and nieces, Barbara DeGrass, Dorothy Spivak, Sandra Blackstone-Gilles, Constance Michaud, and Kim Lamoreau; as well as nephews, Michael Osborn and Steve Sutter. He was predeceased by two sisters, Amber Sutter Chandler and Madeline Sutter Blackstone; and one brother, Roger Sutter. There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, at the Presque Isle Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, one may contribute to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
