ORONO – Phyllis C. Sullivan, 77, died Nov. 27, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Westfield, the daughter of Elmer E. and Muriel (Brown) Howlett. Phyllis was a long-standing member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orono. When she was younger she enjoyed bowling and throughout her life was an avid reader and enjoyed her many trips to the library. Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Maurice Sullivan in 2004; and a son, Michael Sullivan earlier this year. She is survived by a daughter, Joy Howlett of Houlton; two sisters, Jean Kane and husband, Roger, of Surry, Lorraine Daggett of Abbot; four brothers, Winston Howlett of Easton, Harold Howlett of Mars Hill, Bernard Howlett and wife, Romana, of Presque Isle, Ronald Howlett and wife, Betty, of Newark, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Daniel Sullivan and wife, Kathleen, of Orono; a sister-in-law, Beverly Wallace and husband, Fred, of Orono; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank a special friend, Wendy Grover and the complete staff of Orono Commons for the wonderful care that Phyllis and her family received while residents there. The family would also like to thank the staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center for the wonderful care Phyllis and her family received while she was there. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Brookings-Smith Labeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono, with the Rev. Wilfred Labbe officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family 10 a.m. until the start of the service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the parish hall of St. Mary’s Catholic Church after the service. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono.
