LUBEC – Phyllis P. Ingalls, 92, passed away April 16, 2008. She was born March 10, 1916, in Lubec, the daughter of Earl and Delia Pike Davis. Phyllis was a 1934 graduate of Lubec High School and worked at Schrafts and Jordan Marsh in Boston, before returning to Lubec to raise her family. She was instrumental in initiating the formation of Sunrise Workshop, Machias, and for many years served as librarian for Lubec Public Library. Phyllis was a member of Christian Temple Church and a past worthy matron of Quoddy Light Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed knitting, embroidery and quilting with her friends. Phyllis is survived by a daughter, Francina P. Ingalls of Machias; a brother, Raymond A. Basley of Lubec; sisters-in-law, Ferne Kelly of Lakeland, Fla., and Mary Jane Basley of Ellsworth; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph C. Ingalls; a son, Timothy; and a brother, Arthur M. Basley. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery, Lubec.
