MARIETTA, Ga. – Priscilla Mary (Jordan) Sawyer, 88, died July 1, 2008, at Heartland Hospice, Austell, Ga. She was born Oct. 3, 1919, in Bangor, the fourth child of James Edward and Blye Della (Spencer) Jordan. Priscilla was a resident of Maine for 39 years and returned each summer to her Pushaw Lake Cottage on Indian Point, Glenburn, for the next 45 years. She attended St. Mary’s and John Bapst High schools, and was a graduate of Eastern Academy of Beauty Culture, Inc. She volunteered for the Red Cross and earned her Nurses Aide Training cap at Eastern Maine General Hospital during World War II. She opened her own beauty shop, “Priscilla’s Beauty Room” in Dover-Foxcroft and Bangor. She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Virginia Anne (Jordan) Dole and Alice Hurley (Jordan) Gass; two sons, William Leroy Hazelton and John James Hazelton. She is survived by a brother, Paul Edward Jordan of Bangor; two daughters, Deanna April (Hazelton) DeDecker of Holbrook, Ariz., and Crystal Holly (Sawyer) Mitchell of Lithia Springs, Ga.; one nephew, David Paul Jordan of Thomaston, Conn.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her body will be cremated. No public funeral services will be held. Castellaw Funeral Home, Smyrna, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
