ORONO – Priscilla “Pat” Alden Whitney Dunn, 78, passed away Monday, May 21, 2007, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Pat was born July 27, 1928, in Skowhegan. She was one of 10 children born to Lina Maude Mitchell Whitney and Bernard Justin Whitney. Pat grew up in Augusta and was a graduate of Cony High School. She lived most of her adult life in Winthrop, where she raised her family and work-ed at the UPLIFT thrift store. In her later years, she volunteered at Blue Hill Hospital. Pat enjoyed chocolate and knitting baby booties, loved animals and was famous for her delicious chocolate desserts. Pat leaves behind her four daughters, Susan Dunn Nichols and husband, Mark, Lee Dunn Davis, Kathryn Dunn, and Amy Dunn and partner, Sarah Nugent. She was the proud grandmother of Terrie Nichols Hennessy, Gregory Nichols, Ezekiel “Zeke” Davis, and David John Davis; and great-grandmother of Sean and Emma Hennessy, and Kyle and Jacob Nichols. Pat also leaves behind her sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Sprague and husband, Warren, Joan “Nan” Richardson and husband, George, Martha Calderwood and husband, Tom; and her brother, John “Jack” Whitney and wife, Madeline. She was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and Justin “Bud” Whit-ney; and her sisters, Carrie Whitney Caswell, Roberta Whitney Perkins and Ruth Whitney Ranks. Services will be private. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Robert and Mary’s Place, an adult day care program for people with memory loss, 50 Meadowview Lane, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
