MANSET – Rosamond Virginia Michaud, 90, died Jan. 21, 2004, at MDI Hospital in Bar Harbor after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 30, 1913, in Manset, the daughter of Vinal O. and Nettie Alley Beal. Her early years were spent living on lighthouses along the coast of Maine. At the age of 11, the family moved to Manset. She attended schools in Southwest Harbor and graduated from Pemetic High School, Class of 1934. She married Alphonso M. Michaud in 1938. Mrs. Michaud worked as a bookkeeper for Lawson Electric. She ran the Manset VIA beano for 35 years. She was instrumental in establishing the VIA scholarship fund awarded annually to a graduating student from Southwest Harbor and Tremont. She was a lifelong member of the Manset Union Church and was superintendent of Sunday School for 16 years. She was a member of the Southwest Harbor senior citizens club, serving as secretary for two years and a member of the MDI Hospital auxiliary. She is survived by her son, Alphonso Michaud Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Randolph; four grandsons, Scott, David and wife, Lynn, of Randolph, Timothy of Portland and Thomas of Saudi Arabia; three great-grandchildren, Jared, Abby, and Emily of Randolph; special nephew, David Beal and wife, Carol, of Mount Desert; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years; her sisters, Clara Beal, Robena Smith and Velora Ellis; her brothers, Harvard, Morris and Allston Beal. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert with Pastor Robert Maddocks officiating. Spring interment will be at Mount Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Southwest Harbor-Tremont Ambulance Fund, P.O.
