FORT FAIRFIELD – Ralph C. Barnes, 73, husband of Anna Mae (Burns) Barnes, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday morning, Oct. 8, 2007, at a Presque Isle nursing facility, after an extended illness. He was born Aug. 3, 1934, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Clarence D. and Ruth (Churchill) Barnes. He attended Fort Fairfield schools and served in the U.S. Army. Ralph was married to Anna Mae Burns, Aug. 7, 1965, and had been a potato farmer on the North Caribou Road, Fort Fairfield for many years. Ralph attended the Fort Fairfield United Pentecostal Church and the Perth-Andover Pentecostal Church, and will be remembered as a kind, gentle and honest man. In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his daughter, Margaret R. Barnes, July 17, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mrs. Anna Mae Barnes of Fort Fairfield; one uncle, Freddy Barnes of Limestone; and several cousins. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at United Pentecostal Church, Currier Street, Fort Fairfield with the Rev. Rick Vincent, the Rev. Harry Lewis and the Rev. David Ferrell officiating. Friends may also call noon Thursday until the time of services at the church. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Anna Mae Barnes, 2 Fields Lane, Apt. 2, Fort Fairfield, ME 04742, to be donated in accordance to her wishes.
