BAILEYVILLE – Ralph H. Stewart, 83, died March 28, 2004, at the home of his niece, Sandra Mattheson in Dennysville. He was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Baring, son of Milton and Celia (Love) Stewart. Ralph was employed for more than 36 years with Georgia Pacific as a supervisor in the finishing room. Ralph was very proud of the Woodland Mill, his career and the friends he made at the mill. The permanent photographic exhibit on the first floor of Domtar’s administration building is available for our enjoyment because of Ralph’s generosity. Each and every photo in this exhibit is from Ralph’s personal historical collection. He was a member of Peoples United Methodist Church of Woodland, and the Spednic Club in Baileyville. Ralph was an avid bowler and enjoyed softball, baseball and playing cards. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Eleanor Gordon, on Aug. 20, 2000. Surviving are two sisters, Mary Seavey of Dennysville, and Dorothy Daggett of Calais; a brother-in-law, William Gordon of Calais; several nieces and nephews; and will be sadly missed by his fellow card players. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Peoples United Methodist Church of Woodland, by Pastor Bernard Hammond. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at 7-9 p.m. Tuesday the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. At the request of the family, donations in his memory to the Building Fund of the Peoples United Methodist Church of Woodland would be greatly appreciated.
