SOUTHWEST HARBOR and LAMOINE – Ralph McNeil Murphy Jr., 67, of Lamoine, died unexpectedly March 24, 2008, at his home. He was born July 11, 1940, in Bar Harbor, to Ralph and Francis (Richardson) Murphy. He attended Pemetic schools and experienced many job opportunities, until finally choosing to start his own carpentry/caretaking business with his wife, Katheryn. He was formerly King Lion of the MDI Lions Club. He enjoyed traveling with his late wife, Katheryn, and family. He is survived by his four sons and their families, Ralph, III and wife, Patricia, Kevin and wife, Beth, all of Lamoine, Dwayne of Bangor, and Dean and wife, Kimberly, of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Nicole, Terri, Tyler and Jared Murphy, Tasha Fletcher and husband, Mike, Melissa Cox and husband, Zachary, Chris, Derek, Dustin and Shawn Murphy; two great-grandchildren, Amber and Micah; and a brother, Robert of Tennessee. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Katheryn, Feb. 25, 2007; his parents; and a son, Gary. Visiting hours with the family will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Kevin and Beth Murphy’s house, 17 Hodgkins Lane, Lamoine. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, at Tremont Congregational Church with the Rev. Wayne Buchanan officiating. A private burial will be held in the spring.
