HERMON – Ralph “Pete” Moody Foster, 78, died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006. He was born June 25, 1928, in Bangor, the son of Mattie (Frost) and Ralph Foster. Ralph was employed by Greyhound Lines and the highway division of Bangor & Aroostook Railroad for 17 years, and by Bangor Hydro Electric Co. for 32 years. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War, having served proudly with the 5th Regimental Combat Team, 1952-1953, and was instrumental in the Maine Korean War Memorial’s conception and construction. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eleanor (Sullivan) Foster of Hermon; son, Michael Foster of Bangor; daughter, Patricia (Foster) Toole and husband, Robert, of Glenburn; grandchildren, Kathleen Toole of Ellsworth and Tristan Toole of Glenburn; one brother, Norman Foster of Brewer; three sisters, Mary Bragg of Clifton, Barbara Scott of New Hampshire and Marlene Spencer of Florida; many generations of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; one brother, Arno Foster; and eight sisters, Thelma Bragg, Dorothy Davis, Eleanor O’Halloran, Flora Foster, Lillian Tucker, Maxine Scheckler, Isabelle Scott and Norma Foster. Ralph was interred during a private ceremony at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
