STONINGTON – Randall Welch passed away peacefully Aug. 16, 2005, in Orange Park, Fla., with his family at his side, after a brief struggle with lung cancer. The son of Kenneth and Flora Ellis Welch, he was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Stonington. Randall was a highly respected master electrician for 50 years and the owner of Welch Electric Company in Stonington. He enjoyed golfing at the Island Country Club with his buddies, the family cottage in Burnt Cove, boating and warm winters in Florida. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Shepard Welch; his two sons, Glenn and Jeff; a daughter-in-law, Anne; four grandsons, Randy, Garrett, Jesse and Raymond; and his brothers, Wayne and Robert Welch of DeLand, Fla. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Burnt Cove Church in Stonington, with Elder Elwell L. Shepard officiating.
