PRESQUE ISLE – Ransford “Rance” Lovely, 88, died July 15, 2004, at a Presque Isle nursing home. He was born Aug. 7, 1915, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Samuel and Alice (Michaud) Lovely. Rance married Rose Marie LaChance on May 27, 1936, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Presque Isle. He worked in the Presque Isle area all of his life as a carpenter and retired from Converse Shoe in 1976. Rance enjoyed his hobbies of fishing and carpentry, both of which he thoroughly enjoyed. Dad was a good and passionate person as well as being a wonderful husband and great dad to his children. He truly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He believed in honesty and hard work, which was instilled in the raising of his children. Rose was the light of his life right up until the end. Rance is survived by his wife, Rose of 69 years of Presque Isle; children, Janet Milian of Garden City, Mich., Ronald G. Lovely and special friend, Lou Manca, of Gardner, Mass., Doreen G. Washington of Plymouth, Mich., Ernest R. Lovely and his wife, Patricia, of Presque Isle, Sandra J. Pelz and her husband, Edward Jr., of Martin, Ohio, Ransford S. Lovely Jr. of Berlin, N.H.; four brothers, Wilmont Lovely of Presque Isle, Adrian Lovely of Hillcrest, Ore., Vinal Lovely of Westfield, Rufus Lovely of West Enfield; a sister, Adelaine Nelson and her husband, William, of Hastings, Minn. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers, Loris Lovely, Israel Lovely, Harris Lovely, Reginold Lovely, Albert Lovely; two sisters, Mora Boone and Marie Maynard. The family would like to thank the many wonderful people at the Presque Isle Nursing Home who took such loving care of him. A graveside service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle, with the Rev. Alfred Irving officiating.
