MEDWAY – Ray F. Brown, 59, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born Oct. 9, 1948, in Millinocket, the son of Warren R. and Christine M. (Peters) Brown. Ray was a graduate of Scheck High School, Class of 1966. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971, completing his basic training in Great Lakes, Ill., then Military Training School in Lakehurst, N.J. For the remainder of his active duty, Ray was a parachute rigger serving in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Pensacola, Fla., where he also trained on an aircraft carrier, and then completed his service in Keflavik, Iceland. After his time with the Navy, Ray returned to Medway and worked at Great Northern Paper Co., East Millinocket, starting in the paper room, then working in the yard department and then the recycle plant. He retired from the mill in 2005. Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and camping, and absolutely loved spending time on Millinocket Lake. A real high point for Ray was when he purchased his Harley. He is survived by four children, Michele Smith and her husband, Richard, of Clifton Heights, Pa., Colyn Sampson and her fianc?, Brian Kimball, of Medway, Aaron Brown and his wife, Crystal, of East Millinocket and Loren Brown of Medway; five grandchildren, Ricky Smith Jr., Cadye Sampson, Jessica Smith, Madyson Brown and Mallory Brown; siblings, Brenda Birt and her husband, Harold, of East Millinocket, Bruce Brown and his wife, Toni, of Medway, Warren Brown and his wife, Tammi, of East Millinocket and Lynda Tedford and her husband, Ronnie, of Medway; a special friend, Billy Klimas and his wife, Debbie, of East Millinocket; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ray was predeceased by his parents. Memorial services with military honors will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, with the Rev.
