ISLAND FALLS – Raymond A. Brooks Sr., 57, died Nov. 24, 2007, at his home. He was born Sept. 7, 1950, in Island Falls, the son of Raymond D. and Jeannette (Batchlor) Brooks. Ray attended Island Falls High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during Vietnam. He was on the Birch Point Bowling League, Island Falls Fire Department for 14 years, umpired Little League games and was past commander of Island Falls VFW Post No. 7529 for three years. He enjoyed golfing with his brothers, hunting, throwing horseshoes, playing pool and playing with his grandchildren. He worked at KFP for 34 years as a sawyer. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Roberta (Berry) Brooks of Island Falls; four children, Raymond and his partner, Jeff Hoess-Brooks, of Chicopee, Mass., Rebecca and her husband, Sean Flannagan, of Haverhill, Mass., Robert and his wife, Brandy Brooks, of Island Falls and Richard and his wife, Meagan Brooks, of Crystal; three loving grandchildren, Jacob, Jennah and Willow Brooks; four brothers, LeRoy and his wife, Darlene Brooks, of Bangor, Warren and his wife, Debbie Brooks, of Maryland, Frank and his wife, Mary Brooks, of West Boylston, Mass., and Anthony and his wife, Diane White, of Smyrna; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Roderick and Daniel. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Island Falls. Interment with military honors will be at St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery.
