BANGOR – Raymond Aaron Smart, 90, husband of the late Edna (Rowe) Smart, died Dec. 10, 2005, at a Bangor Hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Hermon, the son of Ora and Bertha (Small) Smart. He was employed at Webber Oil and the City of Bangor in the public works department for several years. He recently resided at Freezes Assisted Living in Bangor. Raymond is survived by two daughters, Charlene and her husband, Richard Spellman, of Westbrook and Rebecca “Becky” and her husband, David Libby, of Brewer; three grandchildren, Lonny Hamel and his wife, Fern, of Waterboro, Heidi and her husband, Michael Lancaster, of Hermon and Christopher Libby and Christanna of Orono; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a grandson, Raymond Hamel; one brother, Frank Smart; and two sisters, Clara Eames and Eleanor Potter. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Monday Dec. 12, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a service of remembrance will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. Gifts in his memory may be sent to a charity of one’s choice.
