SOUTHWEST HARBOR and SPRING HILL, Fla. – Raymond “Junie” W. Reed Jr., 81, died April 29, 2004, at his home in Spring Hill, Fla. He was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Southwest Harbor, the son of Raymond W. and Violet (Moore) Reed Sr. Raymond loved his family and grandchildren. He co-owned and operated Robinson Hardware and Plumbing for many years. He was a Master Plumber. Raymond served in the 87th Army Mountain Division in Italy. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Southwest Harbor Causeway Club. He also loved fishing, hunting, and boating, and was a member of the Tremont Masonic Lodge. Raymond is survived by his son, Jeff Reed and wife, Julie, of Southwest Harbor; two daughters, Janice and her husband, Galen “Sput” Staples of Swans Island, and Karen Reed of Bar Harbor; two brothers, Arthur Reed of Southwest Harbor, and Merle Reed and his wife, Frances, of Ellsworth; four grandchildren, Angela and Kristopher Reed and Eric and Christie Staples; his special companion, Connie Eck; many nieces and nephews. Raymond was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Tilden) Reed and two brothers, Ralph and Cecil Reed. Friends are invited to visit 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2004, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Wayne Buchanan officiating. Interment will be at Mount Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor.
