EAST BARRE, Vt. – Raymond Powell McGinley, 90, formerly of Old Town, died Jan. 18, 2007. He was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Peabody, Mass., to Andrew and Mildred (Powell) McGinley. He received a degree in pulp and paper technology from the University of Maine in 1938. He married Ruth Seavey of Cape Porpoise, Jan. 28, 1939. He was service manager of the James River Corporation, Old Town, from 1960-1971. From 1971 until his retirement, he was employed as an engineer for the James W. Sewall Co., Old Town. He was a longtime Rotarian, served many years as a volunteer and was active in the Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife and six children and families, Paul and Nancy McGinley of East Barre, Vt., Helen and John Ballard of Cabot, Vt., Rosemary and David Adams of Overland Park, Kan., Kevin McGinley and Pamela Brady of Moretown, Vt., Kathleen and Daniel Schaap of Hermon, and Richard McGinley and Anne Dinse of Granby, Conn.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children. He was predeceased by infant twin daughters. The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, Vt., is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.
