LEBANON – Regina Theriault Godin, 93, a resident of Lebanon for 18 years, died Friday, July 13, 2007. As was her wish, Regina died peacefully surrounded by her children, at home, after a long battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and dementia. She was born Feb. 5, 1914, in Fort Kent, to the late Arsene and Melvina (Corriveau) Theriault. Her husband, Gilbert Henry Godin, predeceased her in 1967. Together they had a very large family, which included 19 children that Regina always found time to care for. In addition to being a full-time homemaker, she was a hardworking woman who made sure her children got what they needed, whether that meant working alongside them for many years in the potato fields or working in a sewing factory. Regina always did whatever she could to make ends meet and support her family. Her children were her pride and joy, and she selflessly gave everything for them; she never stopped giving until the good Lord decided to bring her home to Him. Regina will be greatly missed by all but never forgotten. Mrs. Godin was predeceased by several brothers and sisters; two daughters, Geraldine Godin Saucier and Rena Godin; and a son, Gilman Godin. Surviving are three sisters, Jeanette Theriault and Rela Potvin of Fort Kent, and Alexina Vincent of West Chester, Pa.; 11 sons and their spouses, Melvin and Pauline of Wallagrass, Maurice and Doloris of Corinth, Hubert and Joyce of New Britain, Conn., Allen and Brenda of Plainville, Conn., David of Bristol, Conn., Gilbert Jr. and Arlene, Roger and Maryanne, Bertrand and Yvonne, Philip and Laura, Patrick and Laurie, and Rodney and Arlene, all of Lebanon; five daughters and their spouses, Kathleen and Thomas Martin of Bristol, Conn., Marie “Madeline” and Ronald Sonier of Plainville, Conn., Albertine Picard, Glenda and Roy Chamberland, and Darlene and Allyre Ouellette, all of Lebanon; 48 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, Main Street, Spring-vale. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church, Springvale. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. Interment will take place Wednesday, July 18, at St. Louis Cemetery, Fort Kent. The family wishes to extend their thanks to Hospice of Southern Maine for their dedication and compassion in caring for Regina during her final hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Southern Maine, 901 Washington Ave., Portland, ME 04103. To leave a message of condolence, please visit www.blackfuneralhomes.com
