PRESQUE ISLE and CARIBOU – Regis “Babe” Boucher, 65, died peacefully Sunday, March 26, 2006, surrounded by family and friends at the residence of his daughter in Caribou. All who knew him loved him dearly. He was born Nov. 2, 1940, the son of Marie (LaVoie) Dumont and the late Ligoire Boucher of St. Rose, Quebec. “Babe” was a heavy equipment operator most of his life; working in the woods as a child, to working at J. Paul Levesque, Plywood Co., Cianbro and the City of Presque Isle. When he was at Cianbro in Fort Fairfield during a major flood, he used a huge bucket loader to save people from drowning. He received a hero award from the Town of Fort Fairfield. He was avid hunter and loved to fish plus make baskets with his brothers. He was born and raised Catholic, a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Presque Isle. Babe is survived by his mother; a daughter, Paula Belanger and her husband, Wilmer, of Caribou and their son, Jeff; a son, James Boucher and his wife, Connie, of Lewiston and their baby girl, Allyssa Rose. He also claims four special boys and one special girl that he helped raise through his second marriage, Ricky Searles and his wife, Lynne, of New Hampshire, Larry Seales and wife, Julie, of Pennsylvania, Terry Searles of Florida, Curt Paterson and wife, Bethany, of Presque Isle, Kristi (Paterson) Gracie and husband, Brad, of Hermon; five brothers and their wives, Leo and Jane, Larry and Louise, Claude and Damey, Rino and Flora, all of Mapleton, Reagent and Andrera of Shingleton, Mich.; two sisters and their husbands, Marcelle and husband, Benoitt Michaud, of Mapleton, Geraldine and Gerald Cyr of East Grandby, Conn. He has several nieces, nephews, cousins, special grandchildren and many close friends, two of which he considered brothers, Steve Davenport and Claude Veillieux. He was predeceased by six baby sisters. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Raymond Morency officiating. A reception will immediately follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Spring interment at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
