BANGOR – Rena Estella (Ross) Hill, 93, wife of the late Charlie W. Hill, died April 3, 2006, at her home in Bangor. She was born Jan. 31, 1913, in Millinocket, the daughter of William A. and Jennie (Mitchell) Ross. Rena had been employed at the Bangor Mental Health Institute from 1954-1974. After her retirement, she was employed by the Philips-Strickland House from 1977-1992. She was a member of the Hammond Street Congregational Church, an avid beano player and enjoyed bowling. Surviving are five children, Wava (Hill) Bosworth of Florida, William A. Hill of Freedom, Charlie L. Hill and his wife, Mary, of Michigan, James R. Hill of Florida, Bruce D. Hill and his wife, Paula, of Newport; one sister, Una Mann of New York; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Connie; and one sister, Elsie. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 7, with the Rev. Dr. Mark Allen Doty, pastor of the Hammond Street Congregational Church officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
