BREWER and BANGOR – Retired Chief Master Sgt. Richard “Gene” E. Frost, 64, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at his home after a long illness. He was born March 4, 1944, in Hartford, Conn., the son of Fletcher R. and Mary A. (Casey) Frost. Richard graduated from Calais Memorial High School, Class of 1962. He later resided in Brewer and for the past five years wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla. Richard retired as a chief master sergeant after 33 years of active duty, proudly serving his country in the Maine Air National Guard. He was a member of many local and civic organizations, Masons and the Sergeant Air Force Association are two in which he was most active. He enjoyed playing the guitar, a hobby in which he made many friends. Richard had a special unconditional love for his family, especially his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending any spare moment he had with them. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Jeanne (Hart) Frost of Brewer; four children, Debbie Frend and her husband, Stephen, of Hallowell, Jeffrey E. Frost of Bangor, Joel Frost and his wife, Cathy, of Henderson, Nev., and Jeffery A. Frost and his significant other, Jody Jordan; Richard’s father, Fletcher R. Frost and Kay Gadis of Calais; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Lacie, Betsy, Matt, Shanna, Dylan, Nick and Sydney; four great-grandchildren, Ayden, Cooper, Oran and Lianna; two brothers, James H. Frost and his companion, Jorge Morales, and Daniel Frost and his wife, Nancy; four sisters, Margaret and Les Shaw, Maryanne and Jan Starbird, Suzanne Tabor and Mark L’Heureux and Sherri and Kevin Cox; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Richard was predeceased by his mother and his grandparents. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 7, and 1-2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating. Friends are welcome to join the family 7:30 p.m. Saturday for a Masonic memorial service conducted by the Rising Virtue Lodge. The family also invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the funeral service Sunday at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor. Committal with military honors will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
