MORELAND LEESBURG, Va. – The Rev. Donald DeVoe Moreland died peacefully surrounded by his family July 24, 2005, at his home in Leesburg, Va., where he has lived since his retirement. Moreland’s death followed several years of declining health. He was the second son born July 14, 1922, to Robert and Florence Moreland of Belleville, N.J. Moreland is survived by his wife, Frances (Pierce); a brother, Robert of Bloomfield, N.J.; two sisters, Jean Deiter of Hamilton, N.Y., and Janet Chesley of Dunellen, N.J.; and three daughters, Donna Fichtner, Greenville, Alice Zoller, Leesburg, Va., Anita Smith, Herndon, Va. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The Rev. Moreland pastored Cambridge Baptist Church, Cambridge, from 1945-1947, and was a summer resident at Piper Pond, Abbot, for nearly 50 years. His professional career included 30 years as the pastor of five churches in the northeastern U.S., and 18 years teaching at educational institutions founded by Greater Europe Mission in France and Belgium.
