BANGOR – The Rev. Dr. George Ganglfinger III, 69, died peacefully Nov. 4, 2006, after a long illness. He was born July 18, 1937, in Chicago, the son of George and Elizabeth (Honighman) Ganglfinger. He was formerly employed with Bath Iron Works. Dr. Ganglfinger earned his doctorate in theology from Bangor Theological Seminary and devoted his life to the church, serving churches in Bucksport; Talcottville, Conn.; and Brownville. He was a very devoted family man. Surviving are his wife, Linda J. Bailey Ganglfinger; four sons, George Ganglfinger IV and his wife, Julie, Eric B. Ganglfinger, Robert Ganglfinger and wife, Sharon, Mark Ganglfinger and his wife, Michelle; 13 grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews; two sisters, Dorothea Miller of Stickney, Ill., and Linda Broz of Starr, Ind.; three brothers-in-law, Hollis Bailey, Jerry Miller and Thomas Staples; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Bailey. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the First Congregational Church, Brewer, with the Rev. Grace Bartlett officiating. Committal services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Bailey Cemetery, Woolwich. A service of Brookings-Smith.
